THE LOCATION - DAYLESFORD & THE MACEDON RANGES
The Secret Lives of Dresses is set in present day Singapore and in Daylesford – a small Victorian country town. Our story contrasts the thriving hustle and bustle of one of the world’s largest and futuristic cities with a sleepy beautiful (somewhat quaint) small town.
Built in the Victorian goldrush in the 1850s, Daylesford was one of the wealthiest areas, yielding around four million ounces of gold, and exceeding California’s gold rush. This financial boom and resulting population boom resulted in wonderful architecture and the building of railways, theatres, art galleries, stock exchanges and libraries. Both locations reveal affluence and luxury, although Daylesford will be revealed to be a more connected community.
